According to Bernard Goldberg George W. Bush actually volunteered for duty in Vietnam and that Dan Rather was aware of this. That he knew this and set out to malign Bush as guilty of dereliction of duty and who tried to avoid serving in Vietnam lends credence to the accusation that Rather was on a mission to sabotage the election of George W.
