Prior to the Obama election I sounded the alarm to Christian family members and friends that we should never vote for a pro-abortion candidate like Barack Obama. The collective response was “Abortion isn’t the only issue.” True, but abortion is linked to other major issues that could threaten Judeo-Christian values. Consider this. Obama pledged to nominate pro-choice judges. Recently he kept his word with the nomination of David Hamilton to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Judge Hamilton blocked Indiana’s informed consent law requiring abortion providers to explain the risks to women seeking abortions [according to the Catholic News Agency]. Moreover, National Review Online reported [3-26-09] that Judge Hamilton insisted it was quite acceptable for a Muslim, in a government setting, to invoke the name “Allah” but inappropriate for a Christian to mention the name of Jesus.
As we speak federal lawmakers are mulling over a hate crimes bill which would include sexual orientation. The danger is that for merely holding anti gay marriage protests could lead to the arrest of Christians if a gay person alleges that he was damaged by the same. Christian book company giant Zondervan is now beng sued by a black gay man who claims that the anti-gay dogma included in their books has damaged him. However, the judge in this case has signalled that she will rule against the gay man. What if someone like judge David Hamilton presided over a case like this? We can learn a thing or two from what is happening in Brazil right now.Click Full Story
